What is the Skills for Growth programme?

The Skills for Growth programme is fully-funded by the European Social Fund as part of Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s three-year plan to plug skills gaps identified by employers across different sectors in the city-region. Acorn Training have been appointed as the lead provider for Health & Social Care training in Greater Manchester as part of the Skills for Growth programme. We offer a comprehensive set of fully-funded training courses to support employers and employees within the sector.

  • GP Practices
  • Dentists
  • Organisations supporting those with barriers including mental health, drug & alcohol addiction and learning disabilities

What does the training cover?

The training has been designed to encompass the following areas:

    • Technical HSC Training & Technical ESOL Training – Safe handling of medications, Dementia, Advanced Diabetes, Medical terms
    • Leadership and Management Training – Becoming a Team Leader, HR Processes and Practices, Resolving Complaints and Solving Problems, Managing Risk and Audit, Conflict Management, Advanced Knowledge of Person-Centred Care, Values Based Recruitment
    • Practice Assessment – Assessor and trainer qualifications, non-accredited learning focusing on observation of skills within the workplace that meet national standards
    • Higher Level Progression – Step up to Higher Education programmes supporting learners to join nursing routeways and higher-level apprenticeships, further knowledge and skills development
