MP Aaron Bell visits Acorn Training Centre in the heart of Newcastle-under-Lyme High Street

(Wednesday, 28th September 2022) Today, MP Aaron Bell, visits the Acorn Training Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme to learn about the core activities of the business aiming to boost employability, upskill individuals and support the community within the local area.

With main headquarters in Tunstall, Acorn Training delivers apprenticeships, skills training, employability support, youth and justice services across England, with a further nine centres and employing over 150 staff nationally.

Acorn Training has had a successful year so far, with the opening of five new centres – Newcastle-under-Lyme, Burton, Melton, Daventry and Hanley, tripling its Adult Education Budget award to deliver adult learning both online and in classrooms, increasing its Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) service delivery in prisons to delivery in 19 HMP establishments, enrolling over 600 new learners onto Apprenticeship programmes and successfully being awarded its largest employability contract to date supporting the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) RESTART Scheme.

The Newcastle-under-Lyme centre is conveniently located around the corner from the Job Centre to be well-placed to deliver employability support and help customers daily with CV writing, job searching, interview preparation, health & wellbeing, qualifications & training, boosting confidence, developing skills and providing links to local employers.

Operations Director, Sophia Franzen, comments on Acorn Training’s role in Newcastle-under-Lyme:
